Plug & Taps - Illustration & Artwork Installation

The Problem: Install a collection of creative work in Plug & Taps main bar area creating a nice, welcoming, Northern vibe for patrons and visitors to the bar

The Solution: Plug & Taps general managers Ben & Kally approached me about the possibility of having a permanent install of my work for the bar in Preston city centre to compliment their recent decorating works. I jumped at this chance as it is one of my favourite places to go for a beer when I’m not working. The install consisted of two custom pieces; the first being an illustration of the pub exterior, and the second being a version of my The North Is Ace print to match the colour of the main interior wall. The rest of the install was bulked out by us collectively picking out pieces from my collection of prints that we felt would work well in the bar area.

This was definitely a passion project, and the final install looks great and really compliments the overall vibe of the bar. It’s really nice, but also really weird to be drinking in the bar and see people looking and pointing at my work, and even taking some pictures. Most of the time I say nothing and just sit in the corner of the bar feeling quietly proud of myself. The installed collection of work has also been great for Secret Industries business-wise, resulting in new followers, webstore sales, and even a couple of new design clients! We have also been lucky enough to produce a couple of print runs of the pub illustration, the first edition selling out by the end of January 2022, and the second edition being released in October 2022
